The words I live by are storytelling, strategy, heart, soul, laugh-out-loud funny and collaboration, which I like to call teamwork…these are my words.
One of my first big projects with Warner Bros. was the launch of that little show called Friends, where we drafted the blueprints for what continues to be the ever-evolving foundation and architecture of a successful Warner Bros. product launch. I collaborate with showrunners, talent, and our highest level executives on every type of show the studio produces; scripted and unscripted, drama and comedy, Two and a Half Men, to Superman & Lois, to Ellen. Combining research and creative strategy to create sales campaigns that led to the billion dollar sales of The Big Bang Theory and countless other shows, upfront pilot trailers and EPK’s for big-time international sales at the LA Screenings; promos, sizzle reels, pitch reels, social and digital, integrated sponsorship spots, media-sales upfront presentations, mondo shoots and even producing and directing a fan experiencial event for seven thousand rabid Supernatural fans in Hall H at Comic-Con, integrating a bad-ass live concert performance by rock legands Kansas, with theatrical scale original video content spanning a 450-foot-wide screen. In other words, I’m a problem solver, I have fun doing it, and I never settle.
I help drive the day-to-day strategy and creative in all aspects of A/V content creation, marketing and advertising, and operations for the TV side of the studio, on all platforms and windows of distribution, through-out the entire life-cycle of studio product; from network pilot to international distribution, home entertainment, SVOD, EST, and domestic cable and station syndication.
Along the way, I've helped recruit and develop an amazing team of award-winning writer/producers, designers, preditors and editors, with my goal as a leader to create a fun and collaborative environment that allows the best work to go forward. Honestly, this is the part of my story that means the most. Building a team of genuinely good people who are unwavering in their support of the company, each other and the goals of the projects.
Before Warner Bros. and a short stint at Disney, I cut my teeth in local broadcasting, from small market to KABC-TV in Los Angeles, being hands-on in every aspect of marketing, strategic creative and production. Writing, producing, shooting, editing and directing creative film and live TV news production. And while we're talking about cool stuff I've done, I thought i'd throw in the fact that in my very first little league game, I turned an unassisted triple play at third base. Although extremely impressive, please know that it was mostly luck and not at all a metaphor for how I approach my work today.
To sum it up, there are a few things I've learned along the way. No matter how much our world continues to change, when it comes to creative entertainment marketing and content, there’s a fine line between hype and connecting to your customer in a way that speaks to their heart and soul. It is essential that the story is authentic, tells the truth, and makes an emotional impact. I have spent my career listening to what each project tells me it needs, and relentlessly searching for and finding the simple, impactful truth in everything I touch. And after consistently delivering the goods, project after project, I can say with certainty, that if there is one word to describe what I now bring to the table….it would be passion and wisdom. I guess that's two words.
